Good morning! 😎
Turns out the same tool everyone uses to write faster is also making everyone sound identical. Conversion rates are tanking, decks are blurring together, and the thing investors actually want, your unfiltered take on why this matters; is getting automated away.
Meanwhile, a health vendor just reminded tens of thousands of clinics that inheriting someone else's security posture means inheriting their lawsuits too.

Five bullets of updates
🤿 AI infrastructure companies are shifting data center designs to oceans, space, and underground sites as community opposition to land-based builds spreads across the U.S. The pivot toward ocean, space, and underground locations shows how cooling, power, and permitting risks are reshaping where large-scale AI compute can realistically be deployed.
📈 Anthropic, the Claude AI lab, just surpassed OpenAI in quarterly revenue, booking $11.6 billion in Q2 2026 versus OpenAI’s $6.7 billion while returning to profitability as its rival’s losses deepened. The reversal shifts investor focus from raw growth to sustainable AI unit economics as both prepare for IPOs.
🔓 People-search tool ClarityCheck exposed more than 9 million face-image files in an unsecured database despite marketing its reverse image search as “private and secure.” The incident shows how easily biometric datasets can leak at scale, signaling rising legal and reputational risk for any startup handling face data, scraped profiles, or sensitive image archives.
💾 Samsung is hiking prices for its semiconductor foundry services by up to 15% for chipmaking customers. The move signals that chip suppliers still have pricing power, raising hardware makers' costs and reinforcing that rising chip prices could squeeze margins for everything from smartphones to AI servers until new capacity comes online.
💼 Bank of America is banning consecutive work-from-home days for hybrid employees, including Monday-and-Friday combos that created de facto long weekends. The policy’s backlash shows how aggressively limiting hybrid patterns to refill offices can trigger morale and retention risk as workers lose schedule flexibility.

Founders to ChatGPT: please pitch my soul
AI can write your pitch deck. That's exactly the problem.
Here's the math nobody warned you about. Investor meetings now convert to a follow-up at an all-time low of 1-in-25, while inbound deck volume just surged 30% year-over-year. Everyone has the same tools. So everyone is submitting the same deck.
Twelve months ago, AI writing was a novelty for "enhancement." Six months ago, it became the default first draft. Last quarter, venture firms clocked a 60% jump in decks with identical structure and narrative. Same problem slide. Same TAM slide. Same soulless "the ask." You didn't stand out. You blended in.
Meanwhile, on the institutional layer, late-stage funds sitting on record dry powder are demanding bespoke, data-rich stories and rejecting templated fluff outright. The signal reaching founders is loud: authenticity is the moat now.
Unearth your micro-insights
Skip the market overview. Investors already know the market. Give them the counter-intuitive thing only you found, buried in a customer call or an obscure dataset nobody else read.
Build from first principles
Record yourself pitching out loud. Transcribe it. Refine it. Your conviction survives that process. A prompt strips it clean off.
Looking days ahead, the Demo Day slate at Startup Week NYC is a live stress test: whose story lands, and whose dissolves into the sea of sameness. Don't outsource the one thing they're actually buying, which is you.

CareCloud loses 3.7M records, finds new silence policy

Photo by Markus Spiske on Unsplash
In case you've been trusting your medical records to strangers, this one's for you.
CareCloud stored electronic records for tens of thousands of clinics. One vendor, one Amazon cloud, one very soft door. Then hackers walked in.
They stayed for six days in March 2026. They walked out with names, home addresses, Social Security numbers, passports, driver's licenses, banking details, and the actual medical histories of 3.75 million people. That makes it the fifth-largest health data theft of 2026.
Here's the part that stings.
CareCloud sat on it for months, then quietly told federal regulators on Monday. By Tuesday morning, the victim count had jumped. CEO Stephen Snyder? Silent since March. No word on ransom, no word on who runs security, no word at all.
Meanwhile, across the industry, the pattern gets ugly. DentaQuest lost 15 million records. TriZetto confessed to 3.4 million more. Craneware joined the pile in July. This isn't bad luck. It's a genre.
And the real victims aren't just patients. Every small clinic that outsourced storage to CareCloud now inherits the lawsuits and the compliance nightmare, with zero control over the breach.
If you're a founder handing mission-critical data to a third party: audit them like they'll fail. Encrypt like they already did.
Watch HHS next. The enforcement hammer is loading.
