Amazon just turned the sky into another AWS region. By agreeing to buy its satellite landlord, it's bolting direct‑to‑device coverage onto Amazon Leo and pushing connectivity into places fiber and 5G won't reach this decade, while also becoming the backbone for iPhone emergency features.
Meanwhile, FluidStack went from a stalled $7.5B round in December to $18B valuation talks today, powered by a $50B Anthropic deal and a frontier‑lab thesis that bespoke compute beats general‑purpose cloud.
Elsewhere: pods hit streets, defence AI banks $5.4M, Snap sheds 16% of headcount, and one French startup cuts crop pests by 60% without harming bees. No connectivity is now a temporary bug, not a product constraint.

Market Volatility Exposes Weak Delegation
When markets get shaky, advisors don’t just manage portfolios. They manage fear, questions, follow-up and a flood of client communication.
That’s where weak delegation gets expensive.
If meeting prep, paperwork, CRM updates and account admin still run through you, response times slip and the client experience takes the hit.
BELAY created the free Financial Advisor’s Delegation Guide to help you identify what to hand off, what to keep and how to stay client-facing without losing control.
Inside, you’ll learn how to reduce bottlenecks, protect responsiveness and free up more time for the work only you should be doing.

FluidStack’s $18B glow-up: from “$7.5B maybe” to $1B talks

Photo by Jonathan Borba on Unsplash
FluidStack is in talks to raise around $1 billion at an $18 billion valuation, with Jane Street and Situational Awareness in discussions to co-lead the round. The fundraise, if it closes, would mark a dramatic rerating for the compute infrastructure company — as recently as December 2025, a mooted round at a $7.5 billion valuation never materialized.
The company's revenue has grown sharply, climbing from $1.8 million in 2022 to $66.2 million in 2024, fueled largely by a $50 billion Anthropic deal to build custom facilities in Texas and New York, with capacity coming online through 2026.
The round reflects a broader capital shift toward physical AI infrastructure, as frontier labs move away from general-purpose cloud in favor of bespoke, tenant-optimized compute. Valuations in the space are moving faster than traditional data center cycles, and FluidStack's talks suggest demand has outpaced even recent expectations.
The consequences extend beyond the company itself. Power developers, utilities, and advanced cooling vendors could find themselves locked into multi-year, single-tenant contracts that tighten local grids near build sites. Chip suppliers, colocation peers, and GPU marketplaces face a more aggressive buyer as FluidStack scales. For founders building infra, tooling, or energy projects, build timelines, interconnect queues, and contract terms — particularly power price pass-through and SLAs — will be worth watching closely. AI application founders should plan around capacity scarcity in 2026 and keep neocloud or multi-cloud options open to avoid bottlenecks.

BIG TECH NEWS
Amazon’s new AWS region: the sky (and your iPhone’s SOS button)
Amazon just turned the sky into another AWS region. By agreeing to buy its satellite landlord, it’s bolting direct‑to‑device coverage onto Amazon Leo and pushing connectivity into places fiber and 5G won’t reach this decade.
The same deal means Leo will power iPhone and Apple Watch emergency and messaging features, effectively taking over Apple’s satellite partner while leaving Apple’s UX in place. Amazon moves from new entrant to backbone for critical off‑grid features on the world’s most valuable hardware line.
Strategically, this is about owning the control plane between clouds, phones, and telcos. D2D lets Amazon work directly with carriers, enterprises, and governments, and steps up the race with Starlink by targeting existing smartphones instead of dishes. For founders, “no connectivity” is now a temporary bug, not a product constraint.
