Do Kwon and Terraform Labs Legal and Regulatory Fallout
Terraform’s founder was handed a prison sentence after promoting an “algorithmic stablecoin” as self-healing while quietly relying on market intervention; misrepresentations that lied about “experimental” coins and triggered a $40B wipeout in 2022.
The legal message is loud: undisclosed backstops, circular liquidity, and “growth hacks” look like manipulation in court, not innovation. Expect tougher scrutiny on stablecoins, yield promises, and tokenomics; more mandatory attestations; and less tolerance for “test in prod” finance.
Stakeholders: investors get precedent that marketing spin is evidentiary; boards and execs inherit a higher bar on risk oversight and disclosures, especially when products resemble savings accounts dressed in code.

Reddit Challenges Australia’s Under-16 Social Media Access Law

Charles-McClintock Wilson / Shutterstock.com
Reddit says it’s forums-first, not friend-graph, and therefore not a social platform, as it fights Australia’s ban that blocks under-16s from social media.
It filed in the High Court to overturn the law, or at least be excluded, arguing the rule chills political speech and forces intrusive age checks. If that logic sticks, forums and comment networks could claim carve-outs, pushing age-gating onto friend-graph apps.
For startups: classification drives compliance. Product taxonomy can trigger identity checks, parental consent, and teen-design obligations. Expect regulators to codify functional tests (topic communities vs relationship graphs) and carve-outs to tighten even if it asks High Court and wins.
