Good morning champions, happy Monday, let's do this,

The companies breaking through this week didn't win by shipping faster. They won because someone else built the layer underneath. Live commerce just hit twenty billion on the back of payments, fraud detection, and ten-second checkout windows no one sees.

Meanwhile, the connector work developers spent two years hand-gluing just became free plumbing, which means your moat better live somewhere smarter. The question for this edition: what are you building that can't be commoditized by lunchtime?

Whatnot raises $545M to sell you more Pokémon chairs

In case you missed it while doom-scrolling static product grids, Whatnot just casually raised a $545M Series G at a $20 billion valuation. This is the Y Combinator W20 kid that grew up to run the biggest live commerce platform across North America, the UK, and Europe. Not a MoviePass-style promise. A receipt.

Here is the number that should ruin your weekend planning: six months into 2026, they already blew past their entire 2025 GMV of over $8 billion. Half a year to lap a full year. That is not growth. That is a car with no brakes.

Why is this happening so fast?

Because the buyer is done browsing. Buyers more than doubled over the past year, and 650,000 people pile onto the platform every single week. People do not "add to cart" anymore. They watch, they trust the seller's face, they buy in ten seconds flat before the drop ends.

Meanwhile, on the legacy e-commerce front… the old guard is stuck: rising acquisition costs, cooling growth, and a static listing that cannot smile back at you.

The less obvious casualty… is the creator playbook. The impression-based brand deal is quietly dying. Monetization is pushing toward live sales commissions, re-routing billions in marketing spend toward whoever can sell on camera. Build the tooling for that seller, or watch them build it somewhere else.

We keep following the dumbest battery rules

🔋 Battery advice is a mess.

Never charge past 80%. Always keep it above 20%. Never leave it plugged in overnight. Fast charging destroys your battery. Rechargeable AAs explode.

So... which of these are actually true?

In this episode, Caya goes down the battery rabbit hole to uncover where all these rules came from. We trace the evolution of batteries—from Zinc-Carbon and Alkaline cells to lead-acid car batteries, Nickel-Cadmium, and modern Lithium-ion packs—to separate real science from decades of outdated advice and internet myths.

Along the way, we'll explain why some batteries really can explode, why power banks are restricted on airplanes, where the infamous "20–80%" rule comes from, whether fast charging actually damages your battery, and why different generations of batteries created completely different "rules" that people still repeat today.

Because battery myths... didn't come from nowhere.

They're leftovers from technologies that most of us don't even use anymore.

FOUNDER BRIEF

What founders clicked on most in recent issues

💼 Solo entrepreneurs leverage tech and automation to build million-dollar businesses with minimal overhead

Many of these operators run “virtual headcounts” of dozens of AI agents, offshore contractors, and no-code workflows stitched together into repeatable funnels for acquisition, fulfillment, and support, letting a single owner oversee seven-figure revenue while spending most of their time

🚀 Vivian Shen spotlights 12 global YC Startup School founders picked from 6,000+ for creative breakthroughs

The montage runs through what these 12 are actually shipping—from AI-first developer tools and scrappy consumer apps to a literal salad-bowl rocket demoed at Chase Center. The clip then pivots into a rapid-fire segment on skipping college, origin stories, and near-term launch plans.

🔗 Rings.ai pitches XRMs over CRMs, citing up to 3x more centralized relationship intelligence as key for scaling teams

The platform pipes email, calendar and call activity into a unified graph that auto-enriches contacts with firmographic and social data, then surfaces warm-intro paths, ownership maps and relationship strength scores directly inside workflows. That turns every investor update, hiring loop and upsell motion into a coordinated, multi-threaded campaign instead of a single AE working a static pipeline.

📧 Gartner flags 61% of B2B buyers shun cold emails lacking clear personal relevance, pushing reply rates down

Those rare winners open with one concrete signal they did real research — citing a recent article, product launch, or org shift — then ask for a single, low-friction next step and revive buried threads with spaced, value-adding follow-ups instead of “just bumping this.”
